Bloodstone

Bloodstone used to be more commonly known as 'heliotrope' which translates from Greek meaning 'sun-turning' (due to a philosopher, Pliny using a mirror of Heliotrope to look at eclipses)
Regardless of the name change this crystal has been known and used as a blood purifier, and for detoxifying the organs commonly residing near the sacral chakra; bladder, kidneys, intestines, and liver, for over 5000 years.
In many cultures Heliotrope was dipped in cold water, and then placed on the body to aid circulation. Warriors often carried it as an amulet of protection, they believed that wearing it into battle would cure any wound they suffered. There is also documentation of Heliotrope being ground up and mixed with honey, and then ingested to cure tumours or stop excessive haemorrhaging. It is found to be a wonderful aid for those recovering from colds and illnesses.

In terms of it's magical properties, Bloodstone can be worn to deter bullies, and protect against physical and verbal threats. It gives it's wearer a sense of self-confidence, often referred to as The Stone Of Courage.
Due to it's connection to blood, this crystal is a very active and energised crystal. Energy that is easily transferred to it's wearer - boosting endurance and empowering the self and projects. (Also great for athletes.) It's element is fire which makes perfect sense, although a lot of sites state it's element is earth, which would also explain it's more grounding properties.
Bloodstone has a strong connection to weather magic. It was often used as an 'audible diviner', said to emit noise warning of storms and coming weather changes.

Most bloodstones have a dark green base, with flecks of red in them. This red is the cause of the common name we use. And it is these red flecks that provoke an air of fearlessness to those in its presence. It gives us a call to action and stimulates excitement.

The red part of bloodstones are usually Red Jasper, and because of this, this crystal has strong powers in divination. Specifically divination revolving around the weather or dreams.
Placed under ones pillow Bloodstone stimulates dreaming, as well as providing a more rejuvenated sleep.

Blessed Be,
Jade

Carnelian

Carnelians name heralds from the Latin word "carnis", translating to "flesh". It most likely received this name due to it's colour. Carnelian also used to be known as Cornelian, deriving from the Latin word "cornum", translating to "cherry".

In Ancient Egypt, Carnelians were used in protection magic for both the living and the dead. They used to be carved into the symbol of Isis, and placed on the neck of a mummy for protection and safe passage. The living would carry Carnelian in the shape of 'The Eye Of Horus', which would protect them from the evil eye.
During the Roman times, Carnelian was typically found engraved with the head of a lion. It was worn or carried into battle, to give it's bearer courage.
Courage is one of Carnelians strongest magical attributes. Whilst it enhances physical energy, and increases courage, it does so by making you tap into your personal power.
Carnelian has strong links with your second Chakra, 'The Sacral Chakra' - which relates to your sense of self. It works in harmony with your five senses, aswell as increasing sexual desire. I keep 2 small pieces of Carnelian under my bed, to keep passion ignited. It is wonderful to work with in any sex rite, or self-gratification magic.

Carnelians element is Earth and Fire (probably why it's so powerful in sex magic) Circling your candle with Carnelian will increase any fire magic you are performing.

Carnelian stirs up action inside it's wearer, which makes it one of my favourite crystals.
Do you have any experiences with Carnelian?
Feel free to share them here.

Merry Meet and Merry Part

Apophyllite

Would you look at this beauty!?!

Apophyllite is native to India, and it occurs in ancient lava and basalt flows. It is most often found in glassy rectangular prisms in it's natural form. It was only discovered in the 1800s, but may have been given a different name before this date, which makes it's history hard to trace.

These crystals contain a high amount of water molecules in their structure, which is firstly what makes the appearance differ slightly to that of clear quartz, but secondly that which  makes them compatible with those with a connection to the water element.
(Like me as a Scorpio)

It is believed to be a very spiritual crystal, it bridges the gap between the physical and spiritual realm - it helps your spiritual connection, and there for should aid wonderfully in divination.
It can be used also in meditation, as a crystal it is known to aid in calm and tranquil feelings; so this combined with it's breaching of the spiritual world, makes it ideal for dreamscape work, journeying, scrying, astral travel, and meditation.

If you hadn't guessed by this crystals attributes it is connected to your third eye chakra.
Apophyllite is known as an "ascension stone", which means it helps bring light and clarity to emotional situations. It helps you be more honest with yourself about things, and brings the truth from others.

Crystals

Full Moons are the perfect time to get out my crystal collection, and charge a few of them. I have a basket of them on my nightstand, I have them strung around my neck, I have them hidden throughout my house in charm bags, I have them under my pillow, and in my lovers pillow. They give us strength, and protection, they can help us in tasks, and aid us in our daily life. Nearly as well as the use of herbs and oils.

My favourite stone is Lapis Lazuli - it is just insanely beautiful.
Did you know that the ancient Egyptians used to bury lapis lazuli with their dead?? They believed it offered protection.
In early cultures it was valued more highly than gold! That's what a girl really wants!
For personal use, this crystal is great for opening up your chakras, and generally making you more acceptant to powers around you, makes things clearer for you. It is also thought to be a great crystal for friendship, so it makes a wonderful gift to close friends.

Rose Quartz is another key crystal to me. There are three on my altar at all times. One huge rough chunk, and two smaller cut crystals. Last Samhain they were used in my ritual to say goodbye to the pets I had lost that year. My two rats Bonnie, and Wolfey; and my old girl, Sheba. The dog I had from the age of 7 till I reached 20. I loved them all, and I felt a need to honour their memories. They all left me for the Summerlands at different times, but now those crystals on my altar are a daily reminder of my love for them, and bring forth happy memories.

Rose Quartz is a crystal of unconditional love. And whilst it is often used to entice sensuality, it is also a calming and reassuring crystal; making it perfect for saying goodbye to loved ones, as well as blossoming romance.

Do you have any special crystals?
Tell me your favourites?

Money Magic

I think it's safe to say, that most of us have been experiencing financial difficulties.
We're told on a nearly daily basis, that our country is in a crisis.
We are broken.
Broken Britain, is a catch phrase slung around constantly.

But I'm not here to talk about politics.
I'm here to give you some magical tips to get some money flowing in!

We could all use some aid from the otherside with wealth...
So let me tell you how to ask for this help.

Shockingly, my tips focus around your wallet/purse.

Lets take a look shall we.

Firstly, chuck out all those receipts
Hoarding them in all those nooks and crannies, represents all that money going out. Creating negativity, and promoting financial outgoings.
So get rid of them!

Now, what should you have in your wallet?

Peridot Gemstones vibrate towards frequent increase, which makes them handy for money magic. It is also said to protect any existing money in your possession.

Green Adventurine is thought to be the luckiest stone, and is often referred to as the 'Stone of Oppurtunity'. By carrying it in ones purse, you are optomising the chance of money being given to you. It helps us move through lifes obstacles, and aids us in motivation.

Tigers Eye is a great stone for wealth and money manifestation. It brings luck, but is also grounding, so we don't get carried away with our income. And as an added bonus, it's a wonderful talisman for protection.

Citrine is also known less commonly as the 'Success Stone' - what else do you need?! It is the crystal of abundance! It brings about feelings of generosity to those around you and to you yourself, so that new abundance can be rightfully shared. It is the chakra crystal for the solar plexus, and is used often for personal power to be increased. It helps us focus and achieve our goals.

And for an extra umph! add a clear quartz aswell. Quartz is a boost for any other crystals, so it will enhance their effectiveness.

Pick two or three crystals that work out for you, and store them in with your coins.
                                                    ---------------------------------------------

And lastly you can get some fresh mint.
Dry it, and then sprinkle it into your purse.

Mint is the herb of prosperity, and is often used to aid money growth, along with it's more common uses for headaches and digestion.

Give it a go, and try and balance out your bank balance.

Love and Light to you all.

Jade
